Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then found many other marked cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.
A high-ranking official said the attack rendered him without words and needed to be solved promptly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
